The tavern doors swing open, allowing a new guest to enter the establishment, the howling wind and rain announcing the traveler’s arrival. Casting her gaze around the tables, she spots several adventurers huddled over several pieces of parchment, casting each other curious gazes as they spoke in soft voices. Curiosity getting the best of her, she decides to walk over and ask them what they were doing so intently.
After a few quick words, she was directed towards the barkeep and informed that if she also wished to fill out these papers, it would be best to peak with her. Nodding her thanks, she walked over and introduced herself to the barkeep and then requested the papers as well as a mug of ale. Turning around with her new possessions, she scanned the tavern for what should have been her main goal of entering.
Spotting a small light skinned Au’ra girl sitting in the corner, she headed in that direction. The girl in return noticed her arrival and beamed up with what can only be described as a dazzling smile. Sitting down beside the small Au’rii girl, she straight forwardly requested a favor.
“Asami, I have a favor to ask you.”
Looking down at the papers, the smallest blush tinged her dark skin. “These are remembrance papers, so that in case something were to happen to me… Those left behind will know who I was.”
Nodding her head as if confirming to herself what she wished to ask, she looked at the small girl, her eyes showing the earnest nature of her request.
“You probably already know this… But I don’t know my letters…” The blush deepening at this admittance “So I wished to ask you to fill this out in my stead. I know it is a lot to ask… But I have no one else to turn to. You would have to read what it says to me and then write my replies… Huh? You’d be happy to do it?!” Now reaching all the way to her horns, the blush that spread across the girls face was a mix of happiness and embarrassment. “Thank you Asami! It means a lot to me!”
Part 1: The Basics
1.What is your full name? My full name is Temur'Checheg Borlaaq. It means Iron Flower in my tongue.
2.Where and when were you born? I was born in the Orthardian Steppes. I don't know where exactly because we were nomads. Nor am I sure when I was born, we didn’t exactly have calendars around, but I do know it was in the summer months.
3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) I know of my mother! She was one of the strongest in our tribe! Everyone respected her and sought her council. She would often decide when and where the clan would move to next. She had steel gray hair and an iron gaze that would make even the sturdiest Raen male give pause. She was everything I wanted to be.
My father? No, I know nothing of him. You see, my clan was made entirely of females. From what I understood, when it came time for a female to mate, she would go in search of a male from one of the other tribes, and would then return bearing child. My mother never spoke of him, so I never gave him any thought.
4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? No, I have no siblings. I was my mother’s only child. There were other girls my around my age in the tribe, so I had all the companionship I needed.
5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. I live wherever my work takes me. I go from town to town fulfilling odd jobs and labor work. Occasionally I get asked to hunt down monsters or bandits. Every now and then I run into this one… peculiar girl name Asami. I swear she’s following me! I enjoy my moments with her, even though we often fight or argue over petty things. It’s thanks to her that I’m free and able to do these odd jobs. I owe her my life, and I’ll eventually pay her back for the favor. It annoys me to be in her debt, but’s it’s fine for now.
6.What is your occupation? I am currently a sell-sword of sorts. When people need doing, I get it done. I may be the only daughter to the clans most influential huntress, but I still know how to do menial work. Though I much prefer to hunt.
7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. I am average sized for a Xaela female, around 60 ilms tall last I was measured. I am sturdily built thanks to an active life on the Steppes and my work. My hair is long and dark blue and matches the color of my scales, my skin color is a wonderful dusk blue color as well. My eyes are sea green color, so they stand out from my dark skin. I guess I have a few scars around my body, but nothing really notable, I never really payed attention to them. I should mention that while my horns do curve forward, I have never used them as weapons as it seems most of the people I pass seem to think.
8.To which social class do you belong? Social class? Hm well back home I was the daughter of the tribe’s strongest huntress, so a lot of the other females were expecting a lot from me. Though… I think I disappointed them more often than not. I would hear them often say I was too headstrong and reckless… Mother would always tell me to think before I act, and that patience is a huntress’ greatest strength. I rarely listened to her words, I was always so caught up in proving my strength to the others.
9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? Not that I am aware of, no.
10. Are you right- or left-handed? I am left handed, not many of my tribes-mates were, so I was always able to use a different stance than they were used to during tournaments! It allowed me a certain advantage over the other girls, which I took no qualms at using.
11. What does your voice sound like? My voice? Well I guess that’s a bit hard to convey through words… But I would say strong, determined and unwavering.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? I most often say things like “I can do it.” or “I’ll do it.” or some other kind of affirmative. I was told I also tend to make things into a competition…
13. What do you have in your pockets? My pockets? Not much, a couple of these little coins called gil, and probably couple of handfuls of raisins. What?! They make a good snack while on the move!
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? Well like I said before, I often get told that I tend to make things into a competition. I remember turning all sorts of chores back home into a game or competition, who could catch the biggest game, who could find the most fruits and other trivial things.
Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general? My childhood was good to me. As soon as I was old enough, I was trained either for hunting and battle, or to make good choices as a leader and learning about the Steppes and the hazards and bounties it offered.
16. What is your earliest memory? My earliest memory? Ah, that would definitely be when my mother and the elders in the clan made younglings decide what martial art we would be learning. They had placed a pile of wooden weapons for us to rummage through until we found one that felt right in our hands. Everyone else had picked either a spear or bow, I alone had picked up an axe. See, resources in the Steppes are scarce, so you wanted to save as much as you could. A spear or bow could kill a beast with a small, piercing penetration. An axe is messy and can damage a beast’s body more than necessary before the kill. Knowing this, my mother, an expert bow user, tried to convince me to use a different weapon, but I was stubborn even then and refused to let go of my axe. I was probably around five when this happened, and I even today I still only use an axe as my weapon.
17. How much schooling have you had? I’ve had a rather large amount of schooling thanks to my mother’s influence and position. I was being trained to succeed my mother as leader of the tribe, so I was pushed into advanced martial training as soon as I could handle it. They also made me learn all sorts of botanical and wild life lessons. I could read the land, find edible plants and track down some of the most elusive beasts in all the Steppes.
18. Did you enjoy school? I guess you can say I did. I always saw it as a way to make myself stand out, so I wanted to make sure I always won. I studied hard and pushed my body to its limits because I never wanted to lose. I remember I once came in second on a botany lesson, the shame I felt at not placing first was astonishing. Though, it didn’t stop me from seeing everything as some form of competition…
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? Like I said, I learned just about everything from the older females in the clan, what I couldn’t learn from them, I learned by trial and error on my own.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. My mother of course. I think I mentioned it earlier, but her greatness is worth repeating. She was the best archer in our tribe as well as the most knowledgeable of the Steppes. She had vision that couldn’t be beat even by the creatures of the wild. She could load an arrow and fire it in the blink of an eye and have it hit its mark dead center. Before I was old enough to, she led the hunting and gathering teams. She was so strong, but at the same time she was incredibly sweet… When one of the females gave birth, she would care for the babe while the mother rested. She was, is, my greatest idol.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? As well as would be expected? I had friends, I had rivals, and I was better than everyone else. I pushed myself to my limits even long after the others would stop and rest. Most of the other girls my age were turned off by this, only a few I would truly call my friends though. They worked as hard as they could to keep up with me.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be as great as my mother.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? I had the most fun training with my axe. I enjoyed training only because I enjoyed being the best. The more I trained, the more I could do, the bigger game I could hunt. I loved to study with the elders for the same reason, being the best and most knowledgeable was a great sense of pride for me.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? Arrogance, pride, stubbornness… Yes, yes, Asami, exactly the traits that I show now…
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? I guess I was popular? Everyone in the clan expected great things from me, expected me to take my mother’s place… if I could overcome my personality flaws that is…
26. When and with whom was your first kiss? I-I’ve never kissed anyone before.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? NEXT QUESTION!
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. Well this is a rather silly question… We can skip it too. Oh, I guess I can say that my need to compete as a child lead me more to mercenary work than anything else.
Part 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? The events that led to me meeting you, Asami, is what I consider the most important life even I have had.
30. Who has had the most influence on you? My mother, for reasons already stated.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? The fact that I am not dead yet.
32. What is your greatest regret? That I did not listen to my mother as much as I should have. Who knows what would have happened if I did…
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? I have killed out of anger and spite.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Back home no, here in Eorzea no. But these “Garleans” might want me arrested…
35. When was the time you were the most frightened? When I saw my tribes settlement burning
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? Other than having to ask Asami to read this to me and write my responses? I can’t seem to remember.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? The night the tribes scouts found the Garlean troops I wish I would have listened to what my mother said.
38. What is your best memory? When I won my first tournament and was qualified to lead a team of huntresses.
39. What is your worst memory? The night my world went up in flames
Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I am more optimistic, if I believe it, I will make it happen . 41. What is your greatest fear? I.. I am ashamed to say it, but the weapons the Garleans used against us… Never before have I seen something so fearful…
42. What are your religious views? I know little of the gods.
43. What are your political views? I know little of politics as well.
44. What are your views on sex? *Blushing* I-I am sure it is quite the experience.
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? Yes, I am able to kill. I was raised to believe that in order to kill, you must have a need of what that life is worth. Food, pelts, resources needed to sustain life. Yes, I killed for the thrill of the hunt, but whatever I killed was used to sustain the tribe. We did not needlessly slaughter the beasts of the Steppes. The only other reason for the need to kill is in self-defense of yourself, or of those you hold dear.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? Enslave another being against their will, to deny them the freedom to fight for their survival. Mindless killing is also abhorrent.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? I do not know.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life? I always thought being successful in my life would mean to be the strongest huntress and best leader. If I could become the tribes leader and keep them safe, I would have lived a life worth called successful. Now a days, I do not know what I might call successful.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? I tend to be honest with my goals and most of my desires. Though my feelings I often keep to myself for fear of making myself look weak.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Having never grown up around males, I don’t see why they are needed. I also can’t trust anyone who uses the same equipment that the Garleans use.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? I have yet to find something that I would refuse to do.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? I… I would go to any extreme to keep Asami safe… She has saved my life more times than I can remember… and has proven to be someone I can call part of my tribe.
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? I tend to treat others rudely and condescending. I highly doubt they are as skilled as me, so why should I treat them as if they were my equal? If they manage to prove themselves to me, I guess I treat them better.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? My mother was the most important person in my life, now that she is gone, I have yet to find another.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? I would have to say that Asami is the person I now respect the most. She has been through almost as much as I, but she still retains her cheerful nature.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. For now Asami is my only friend, so I guess that makes her my best friend as well. But I shall leave it to her to describe herself another time.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. I do not.
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. I have not.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover? Someone strong? Reliable? Someone who can watch my back I’d say
60. How close are you to your family? Not as close as I wish.
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? I have not started my own family, I only just reached the age of independence! It shall be some time before I look to start my own tribe.
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? I would turn to the only person that has stood by my side since my world went up in flames, Asami.
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? I do not trust most people to protect me because if I, as strong as I am, can’t protect myself, then what can someone else, who is most likely weaker, do for me?
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Other than Asami, I doubt anyone would.
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Not a person, but a people. The Garleans. They should all die for what they did to my tribe.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? Unless it’s about work, a lot of my conversations tend to end up as arguments.
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? Usually yes.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? I honestly prefer small groups. I’m used to hunting in small groups that’s all.
69. Do you care what others think of you? As long as they acknowledge my skill, I care not what they think of me.
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? I enjoy botany and cooking. I can make some impressive dishes. I also enjoy hunting and physical training.
71. What is your most treasured possession? I don’t have one. Anything I would have considered priceless was lost.
72. What is your favorite color? I have a preference for green colored things, like the color of my eyes.
73. What is your favorite food? My favorite food would have to be apple tarts and blood currant tarts. I just love the sweetness of those pastries! And some chamomile tea to wash it down!
74. What, if anything, do you like to read? I do not know my letters, so I do not know how to read.
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? Good entertainment to me means some time in the kitchen attempting to make something sweet. That or some time in the hot tubs after a long day of work or training.
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I drink occasionally.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? My Saturday nights when not working are spent in the kitchen satisfying my sweet tooth.
78. What makes you laugh? Watching others attempt to do something I have and fail. Asami has gotten me to laugh when she does something silly I’ll admit.
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? I… get offended when people call me a muscle head or something along those lines. I may enjoy training and hunting, but I am still a girl!
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Insomnia? As in I could not sleep? Well I would just spend the night cooking away. If I could not do that, then well… it would be a long night with dark thoughts.
81. How do you deal with stress? I can admit I handle stress pretty well. I have only ever frozen due to stress once, and well. I had a good reason.
82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? I tend to be spontaneous in most things. There are times that I try to plan things out, but they don’t always go according to plan.
83. What are your pet peeves? I can’t stand people who think they know more than me when they clearly don’t. Also, if I serve you something, you better eat it. ALL of it.
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? A normal day for me involves waking up, eating a tart or two along with some tea. I then do morning stretches, bathe and then head to the tavern to see if there is any job that needs to be done. This routine is how I start my morning and when it gets interrupted I become QUITE irritable.
85. What is your greatest strength as a person? That I refuse to back down from a challenge!
86. What is your greatest weakness? …that I refuse to back down from a challenge…
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Even I know that only fools rush in… So that is what I would want to change about myself.
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? I would have to say I am more introverted. While yes, I do enjoy going out and challenging myself, I prefer to do it with only a small audience present, if any.
89. Are you generally organized or messy? I am rather ashamed to say that I am quite messy. Before I leave a tavern for travel, I usually have to spend a day or so cleaning it up.
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. Three things I am good at? I am a good cook, a good botanist, and I am skilled at wielding my axe of course! Three things I am bad at? Waiting, being patient, and listening to others.
91. Do you like yourself? I do like myself. Despite my few flaws, I think I am a rather capable huntress in which I can be proud of.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) My reason for being an adventurer? I have nothing else. My tribe was taken from me, I was forced to flee my homeland and there isn’t anything else for me to do. Oh, I might desire revenge too, but even I feel that I am too weak to face a foe such as those Garleans…
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? I wouldn’t mind finding a new place to call home. It doesn’t have to be another tribe of Au’ra, but even I miss the comfort of sleeping near people who will try to keep me safe no matter what.
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years’ time I would like to see myself surrounded by good people like I had back home. People that I could laugh with, spar with, and grow close with.
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? Striking down the bastard who led the group of Garleans would be an ideal way for me to go. That or protecting someone too weak to protect themselves. Like children. I’ll never forget the look on a child’s face as everything they know gets taken from them. I swear I’ll never let it happen to another child again.
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. First I’d bake the biggest, sweetest cake I could manage. Then I’d invite Asami over, and anyone else I might have gotten close to. Then we’d all just sit around eating cake and telling stories. What? Thought I’d go on some murderous rampage to find who did it to me or to find a cure? No, if all I had was 24 hours, I’d want to end it making good memories for those I’ll leave behind…
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? I’m embarrassed to admit this, but my I’d like to be reminded for my love of sweets and all these cute things that I’ve found during my travels.
98. What three words best describe your personality? Stubborn, defiant, Reckless
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Foolish, reckless, stubborn
100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) Temur, you really need to slow down and think before you act. You are an amazing huntress, with few equals, so there is no need to prove yourself to anyone. Your mother knew you were trying your best, and she would be proud of the woman you are growing up to be. You should really be more honest with your emotions. You can be a strong, fearless warrior and still like to cuddle with a stuffed moogle toy and eat tarts all day. I’m not sure where you are going, or what will happen to you along the way, but there are people out there that you can trust to watch your back and keep you safe. Asami is one of them, but there are more. It make take a while at first, but I hope to see you open yourself up to others.
